Eligibility

The Foundation conduct governance checks on all of the organisations they support, to ensure that funds are being appropriately invested. The Council meet regularly to consider all requests for funding, however these meetings are only after a rigorous process, involving scrutiny of all applications.

Where an individual has applied for sport funding, their application will be passed to their Governing Body or Association to provide backup and endorsement for the individual. Where community or cultural project grants are applied for, due diligence is carried out validating the organisation’s constitution, financial accounts, management structure and development plan.

The Foundation is committed to ensure that the talented sports individuals and teams who benefit from financial support to take their talent to a higher level of performance, are equally committed to “giving back” to nurture future and other upcoming local talent.

In some instances, funding applications are not considered by the Foundation.

Generally, this includes:

  • Organisations who do not hold a not-for-profit status
  • Individuals wishing to undertake Undergraduate degrees
  • Participation in non-sporting, off-island events
  • Retrospective funding (for projects which have already taken place)
  • Applications from schools or school committees (such as for sports events, musicals, PTA activities)
  • Organisations not based and regulated in Jersey

Grants are considered across three categories, each with their own set of criteria:

  • Sport
  • Community
  • Culture

One of the core objectives of the One Foundation is to provide a funding platform for individuals and teams with identified potential. In conjunction with helping those with talent to progress and be their best, there is an expectation that those who receive funding assistance, in turn, provide a return to the local community such as coaching Juniors etc.

A large part of the criteria for selection is a report submitted by the applicable registered entity (governing representative for a sport or organisation on the island), responsible for the individual or team. For example, all tennis players would liaise with the Jersey Tennis Association in order to have them complete the required report. The Council cannot complete their review of any sports applications (individual or team) without the supporting documentation completed by the registered entity.

The registered sporting entity lending support must be:

  • A non-profit making organisation
  • Relevant to the application
  • Able to demonstrate the presence of qualified management team structure
  • Hold rules and regulations of conduct
  • Registered and regulated in Jersey
  • If possible, be recognised by a governing body

The registered entity supporting an application, will need to complete this form and it will need to be uploaded, at the final stage of completing the online application.
